This is our 8th consecutive year attending Battlecry, and it just keeps getting better each year! This year for the team social after the Friday day seeding matches, Trinity Robotics brought our Freeze Tag robots. The freeze Tag game is played in a vex field with two alliances of 4 robots each. The freeze tag game starts with the robots driving off in random directions for 5 seconds, and then the game enters the operator mode. The first team to shut off the opposing alliances robots first is the winner. The game was a hit success, and we hope it is the same at IRI. On the Saturday competition, We finished as the 2nd seeded team with a record of 7 wins and no losses. We then proceeded to pick Team 121 (Rhode Warriors) to be a part of our alliance. Then during the random drawing of teams for the 2nd pick, we got 562 (SPARK). Through the elimination brackets, we all played our jobs well, and made it to the Finals. Unfortunately, we lost to the 1153, 1685, and 271 alliance, but we had regardless. We ended up bringing both our current robot and Checkmate I to the competition. Checkmate III made its way to the top, finishing as the #1 seeded robot. Advancing into the finals , Checkmate III chose Team 131 (Central High School) to be our alliance partner. Checkmate I was chosen by 1519's (Mechanicle Mayhem) second team. Unfortunate for both teams, they were both eliminated by the 501 (West High) and 1519 (Mechanical Mayhem) primary robots. To finish up, we grabbed a Gracious Professionalism award for helping out various teams through the day. In the end we had a blast and hope to come back next year! Making use of the Golden Tube, Trinity was the first team to score the golden tube in a seeding match at Beantown. After advancing through the seeding matches, thanks to our drivers, Trinity was able to finish as the #1 seed. Trinity was also paired up with Team 121 (Rhode Warriors) and Team 125 (The Nuetrons) during the mentor matches, and eventually became the mentor champions after some tough matches. During alliance selections, Trinity chose to once again ally with its partners from the mentor matches, Team 121 (Rhode Warriors) and Team 125 (The Nuetrons). Unfortunately, our alliance was knocked out in the quarter finals. To wrap up the day, we took home the #1 seed award, the Imagery award, and the Mentor Champion award. We all had a fun time at Beantown this year. News http://www.checkmate40.com/News3.html Wed, 20 Jun 2007 10:26:01 GMT http://www.checkmate40.com March 14-17 - Carrying on our seasonal competitions, Trinity Robotics attended the UTC Regional in Hartford, Connecticut for the first time (no pun intended). At the end of the Friday day seeding matches, we were ranked in at 1st place! After three more matches on Saturday, we unfortunately dropped down to 8th place. We were then selected by the 3rd seeded alliance, the 716 (The Who'sCTEKS) as did 1027 (The Mechatronic Maniacs). Going into the quarterfinals, we were knocked out by the 195, 558, 1124 alliance. Although we were knocked out early into the elimination matches, we did have a great time at UTC. News http://www.checkmate40.com/News4.html Wed, 20 Jun 2007 10:26:01 GMT http://www.checkmate40.com March 1-3 - Starting our season competitions, Trinity Robotics made its way to the Granite Regional once again. Finishing up the seeding matches at 20th. We were then selected by the number 5 alliance led by 296 (Northern Knights) as did 1058 (PVC Pirates). Our alliance made its way through the quarter finals with ease due to great teamwork. Advancing into the semifinals, we ended up facing the 501 , 175, and 1824 alliance. The semifinal match we were outscored. The second round we ended up outscoring their alliance to bring the score to 1-1. Then in third round, The opposing alliance outscored us once again, knocking us out of the finals. We however were very pleased at the end of the day as we had won the Rockwell Automation Innovation in Control Award due to our LED strips in our 4 bar linkage for our claw. The light allows our drivers to see if a tube is secured inside our claw, and is a great sight from the stands. Also, our mentor Dan Larochelle took home the Woody Flowers Award, greatly anticipated by our team due to Dan winning the STAR award at Battlecry 7 and the Unsung Hero award on Chief Delphi.
